Cutscreen is a screen recorder and video editor for Android, published by Md Mahabubur Rahman, an individual developer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your recordings never leave your phone, Cutscreen has no servers and no accounts, and the only data that leaves the device is what the Google AdMob advertising SDK collects to show ads.
1. Your recordings, screenshots and edits
Everything you capture with Cutscreen — screen recordings, audio-only recordings, screenshots, camera footage, voice-overs and exported edits — is written directly to your device's own media storage (the Movies, Music and Pictures folders your gallery app uses). We do not receive, store, view or transmit any of it. Cutscreen makes no network requests of its own.
- Recording starts only after you accept Android's own screen-sharing consent dialog, every time. The consent token is held in memory and discarded as soon as it is used.
- A persistent notification is shown for the entire recording. Nothing records on boot, on a schedule, or without that notification.
- Android itself blocks capture of protected content (banking apps, password fields, DRM video). Those areas appear blank in any recording.
- The library screen reads only the files Cutscreen created. It does not scan or index your other photos and videos.
- Editing is non-destructive. Export writes a new file and the original recording is kept until you delete it.
- Your settings (resolution, frame rate, audio source, theme and similar) and a small index of your recordings' names and durations are stored locally on the device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
2. Permissions and what each one is for
No permission is requested at launch. Each is requested by the feature that needs it, with an explanation and a "Not now" option.

Two further permissions appear in the app's manifest because they are merged in by the video-playback library: ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and WAKE_LOCK. They are not prompted for and are not used to send data.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Cutscreen is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob, part of Google LLC. Ads are shown only after you finish a recording or an export — never during a recording. To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK collects certain data directly from your device and shares it with Google and, where you consent, with Google's advertising partners. We do not receive this data ourselves in identifiable form.
Data the AdMob SDK may collect:
- Advertising ID (a resettable identifier managed by Android) and other device identifiers.
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (not GPS; Cutscreen does not request location permission).
- Device and app information: device model, OS version, language, app version, screen size, network type.
- Ad interactions: which ads were shown, viewed or tapped.
- Diagnostics: crash and performance data related to ad delivery.
Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), Cutscreen shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your Android settings under Privacy → Ads.
How Google uses this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Advertising partners that may receive data under your consent are listed in the consent form.

Cutscreen does not collect your name, email address, contacts, messages, precise location, files outside its own recordings, or the contents of what you record. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no in-app purchases.
5. Children
Cutscreen is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.
6. Retention and deletion
- Recordings and screenshots stay on your device until you delete them, either inside Cutscreen's library or with any file or gallery app. Uninstalling Cutscreen does not delete the files it saved to your gallery.
- Settings and the local recording index are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Data collected by the AdMob SDK is retained by Google according to its own retention policy. You can reset your Advertising ID at any time, which unlinks previously collected data from your device.
7. Your choices and rights
- Permissions: every permission can be revoked in Android settings. The related feature will stop working; the rest of the app continues.
- Ads: change your consent under Settings → Ad privacy choices in the app; reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android's Privacy settings.
- Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection: because we hold no personal data about you on any server, these rights are exercised directly on your device (see section 6). For data held by Google, use the links in section 3 or contact us and we will help.
- If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
8. Security
Your recordings are stored under Android's standard app and media storage protections and never leave the device through Cutscreen. Data sent by the AdMob SDK is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No method of storage is perfectly secure; keep your device locked and up to date.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date, and note the change in the app's release notes. Material changes will be highlighted in the app before they take effect.
